Call of Duty has a reputation for its fast-paced battles, being able to set tactical loadouts, mechanics of evolving weapons, and having rewarding systems of progression. However, one of the major recent changes in Call of Duty is the addition and expansion of the Armory Unlocks. This feature changes the system by which players earn access to weapons, attachments, and utility items. Rather than just leveling up a particular gun, players get the chance to traverse a more integrated system, which encourages players to try different methods and approach the system in a more strategic manner.
Despite the fact that the Armory system feels new and fresh, it can be puzzling to players. More advanced players can get lost in the most efficient ways to access the weapons that they most desire. Some players access Armory Lock by means of third-party services and buy COD accounts to access weapons that are unlocked. Nonetheless, the Armory system provides a means to progress in a more efficient and self-assured way.
What are the Armory Unlocks in Call of Duty?
Armory unlocks is a new system of game progression incorporated in Call of Duty. This system ties weapon unlocks to particular actions instead of weapon level, and players can now access weapons through game objectives, kills, captures, and other actions.
Some Armory Unlocks require:
- Completing daily and weekly challenges
- Achieving kills with specific weapon types
- Completing mission sets
- Earning XP across multiple modes
- Finishing Armory-based objectives tied to a gun family
Stepping outside of one’s comfort zone is part of the system. Instead of sticking to one weapon for the entire match, you can benefit from rotating guns, ranging from different types, and experimenting with various attachments.
Even those who buy COD accounts eventually need to understand the Armory structure to keep unlocking new items after they begin playing.
How the Armory Unlock System Works
1. Weapon Categories and Weapon Families
Modern COD titles organize guns into families, such as Assault Rifles, SMGs, Battle Rifles, and Marksman Rifles. Within each family, certain weapons share attachment unlocks. For example, unlocking a specific optic on one rifle may grant it across the entire weapon family.
This means:
- Progression is faster across related weapons
- Players are encouraged to try multiple guns within a family
- Some unlocks are tied to mission sets rather than XP
This flexible system rewards time invested rather than forcing grinding on a single weapon.
2. Armory Challenges
Each weapon or item has unlocked conditions that must be met. These may include challenges such as:
- Get 30 operator kills
- Achieve 10 headshots
- Earn Longshot medals
- Capture objectives 15 times
- Use a weapon family member to earn XP
Armory challenges scale with difficulty depending on the value of the weapon or attachment.
3. Daily and Weekly Armory Objectives
Modern COD titles integrate Armory progression with daily and weekly tasks. Completing these contributes toward Armory Unlock Points, which can be spent to unlock certain weapons instantly.
This provides flexibility:
- Don’t want to grind headshots? Spend Armory Points instead.
- Need a weapon for Warzone quickly? Spend points for instant access.
It’s one of the fastest and most reliable progression shortcuts, especially useful for beginners.
4. Multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone Influence
Call of Duty has deeply connected modes, and Armory Unlock progress often carries across them.
- Multiplayer: Best for fast kills and fastest unlock rates
- Zombies: Great for grinding XP, attachments, and kills
- Warzone: Slower for kills, but good for objective-based unlocks
Players who want to unlock weapons fast often mix modes depending on the challenges required.
Armory Unlock Tiers
The Armory can be broken down into levels or tiers based on how difficult the unlock is. Here’s a simple breakdown:
| Tier | Unlock Difficulty | Examples |
| Tier 1 | Easy | Basic attachments, early-game weapons |
| Tier 2 | Moderate | Tactical equipment, optics, mid-tier guns |
| Tier 3 | Advanced | Specialized rifles, advanced attachments |
| Tier 4 | High-End | Meta weapons, top-tier attachments |
| Tier 5 | Mastery | Camos, blueprints, cosmetic mastery rewards |
This tier system is not officially labeled but widely understood within the community.
How to Unlock Weapons Faster
1. Grind the Right Modes
Multiplayer is ideal for quick kills. Objective modes like Domination and Hardpoint offer:
- Extra XP
- Frequent engagements
- Fast challenge progress
Zombies are ideal for:
- Kills with no pressure
- Weapon XP
- Leveling attachments quickly
Warzone is ideal for:
- Long-range challenges
- Tactical play
- Vehicle and equipment unlocks
Combining modes helps speed up the process dramatically.
2. Use Double XP Tokens
Double XP and Double Weapon XP tokens shorten the grind significantly. Use them only when you have time for long sessions.
3. Focus on One Weapon Category
If you want weapon attachments for multiple guns, stick to a single category for a few hours. Weapon families share progression, making unlocks smoother.
4. Take Advantage of Armory Points
Daily and weekly challenges give Armory Points, which can be used to unlock weapons immediately.
Players who don’t have time to grind often lean on these or eventually opt to buy COD accounts that come pre-loaded with many unlocked items. But learning to manage Armory Points offers long-term value and independence.
Why Call of Duty Uses Armory Unlocks
The Armory system achieves three goals:
1. Encourages Player Variety
Instead of using a single meta gun every match, players experiment with different weapons.
2. Enhances Longevity
Unlocks keep the game engaging by introducing new goals daily.
3. Supports Skill Progression
The system unlocks more advanced items only after you demonstrate consistent performance.
Advanced Tips for Armory Unlocking
1: Track Your Challenges
Open the Armory progression screen frequently so you don’t waste time on the wrong tasks.
2: Play Maps with High Engagement Rates
Certain maps are more active, making them perfect for grinding kills or headshots.
3: Build Loadouts for Unlock Requirements
If you need long shots, choose: High-accuracy rifles, Medium-range scopes, and Long sightline maps, and if you need hip-fire kills: SMGs, Laser attachments, and Close-range zones.
Matching loadouts to challenge requirements drastically speeds up progress.
Final Words
Call of Duty’s Armory Unlock system innovatively integrates players’ pursuits for weapons, attachments, and other gear. Unlock items through challenges, mission sets, and weapon families, and gain access to a thoughtful, engaged, and progressive game experience.
Players who appreciate the system will have a continuous stream of goals, and while some people prefer to buy COD accounts, mastering the Armory mechanics will gain the most expertise in the game. Unlocking weapons can be done rapidly, and the depth of the COD Armory system can be enjoyed with the right strategy.
